The Belk family’s legacy of giving began in the 1800s with John Belk’s parents, William Henry Belk and Mary Irwin Belk. They instilled in their six children an unwavering Christian faith, the importance of education and the responsibility of giving back. The Belk Foundation is a family foundation that invests in public education, specifically K-3 achievement and excellent teachers and leaders.
